Nope. The foot soldiers in the future super-computer overlord’s army aren’t the Terminator series robots, but mechanized drones, like the Israeli killer robot its army has just developed, called the Guardium.

This isn’t just a remote controlled killbot, though; the Guardium is autonomous, meaning it makes its own decisions on who to shoot. What could possibly go wrong?

We’re guessing a lot. The machines run on software, and software can be faulty. We’re hoping we never encounter one of these mechanized killers.

Why even bother rolling something out when its primary purpose is not present? It’s be like releasing a automobile without wheels, or a console without games (oh wait, Sony did that). But that’s exactly what T-Mobile is doing: the first phase of the rollout, however long it might be, will only be using the 3G network for voice. You’re stuck with EDGE for data.

Well, if you’re lucky enough to be getting this “update,” let us know if anything at all changes. Maybe your mom will sound superior now — she always sounds so raspy! I’ll call her later and let you know.

Samsung’s developed a new battery for small form factor laptops that it’s going to be selling to American PC manufacturers, apt to HP and Dell, according to rumor.

They’re using a new technology that gives the battery a 10% longer charge than previous generation batteries as well as a faster charging time.

No word yet on if, like Sony’s, the batteries will explode and cause a fire, burning you and your family alive.

Some folks at Zunerama found an odd Zune with a shoddy box and weird engraving on eBay, causing us to wonder a) is this fake and b) why would anyone fake a Zune?

just received my 8GB Zune from Ebay.
When I saw the box first I was kind of shocked. Text and Printing not aligned to the center of the packaging, no sticker with serial number and Barcode. As well there were no manuals and the earphones and synch cable were not in separate boxes.
Then I thought “wonderful you’ve purchased a fake Zune” but the Device looks fine (ok it looks like second quality, dented screw cover (or whatever the chrome cover covers Smiley and some errors in the laser engraving at the back) When I plugged it into my Computer it started charging and a few minutes later it started up and shows correct firmware as well.
So how can this be? Has someone embezzled second quality devices and made a new Packaging for them?
Has anyone else the same experience?

You can add it to Installer.app by adding the repository i.danstaface.net and videos go into /Library/Skrew/Videos. Yeah, I don’t know what that means either.

[Thanks again, Steve]

We told you how much it would be a month ago, but some people just don’t listen. We’re off by a few dollars, but we were correct in our initial claim. I don’t comprehend how it’s already sold out, though. Are there that many people in Chicago and DC that want this thing? I guess […]

The iMacs are able to reach speeds of 3.06GHz because they’re an overclocked version of chips from Intel’s current line. The mainboards are still based on the Santa Rosa chipset found in the previous iMacs. There was some speculation over whether the new iMacs were going to be the first machines to use Intel’s upcoming Centrino 2, Montevina, chips, which doesn’t seem to be the case. This is not the first time Apple has used overclocked chips in their personal.

This “urban security suit” looks like something that Dyson guy would invent. Its principle materials are neoprene and kevlar. So when the great Food Riots of 2008 break out, not only will you be safe, but you’ll also look like Gordon from Half-Life. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Yes, as we all know, Grand Theft Auto IV was leaked onto the World wide web earlier this week. But just how many people have grabbed the game, roughly, from some of the bigger sites out there?

Blackcats-Games, one of the biggest private, games-only BitTorrent trackers, has 45,747 users, of which a total of 4,207 users have snatched either the PAL or NTSC version. So, about 9 percent of those guys have grabbed the game.

TorrentLeech.org, which is more of a general purpose torrent site, has seen a combined total of 8,334 downloads. No idea how many users there.

The Pirate Bay, with who-knows-how-many users, and temporarily re-named “Liberty Bay” to celebrate the game’s “release,” makes it difficult to determine how many downloads have occurred. Right now, the NTSC version has about 160 seeders. But that number is essentially meaningless, given how many people “hit-and-run” torrents there.

Then there’s the Usenet downloads. I imagine more than a few people got the game from there.

Just some Saturday kickin’ about, is all.

And no, I don’t have any invites to the aforementioned private sites.
